Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Hold Epic Concert Party in Manila!
Winners of 4 Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are all set to party in Manila on March 16, 2014 at the MOA Arena. “It was a rollercoaster of a year to go through. What better way to celebrate than to come over to you guys and play a show!”, said Lewis.

Ryan Lewis goes on to say how the show is 100% conceptualized by them and their team. “It would be me and Ben along with two other huge contributors: our manager Zac and Ben’s fiancée slash our tour manager slash merchandise director Tricia Davis. This is a testament to the fact that even to this day, we’re a team of about 8 people total for our whole operation.”
The rap duo won four Grammy Awards last January, including best new artist and rap album for “The Heist,” beating efforts from Kendrick Lamar, Jay Z, Kanye West and Drake.
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis took home the first of the major awards at the 56th Grammys on Sunday night. The rap duo from Seattle won many major awards following their phenomenal success with hits like “Same Love,” ”Can’t Hold Us” and “Thrift Shop.” They also received the titles of best rap album, best rap performance and best rap song for “Thrift Shop.”
American Music Awards applauded the indie hip hop duo’s efforts with six nominations, winning the Best Hip Hop/Rap Album category. American Billboard certainly approved their choice of music, with ‘Thrift Shop’ sitting comfortably on the number one spot of the yearend Hot 100 charts across all genres. Other songs that made the Billboard charts include ‘White Walls,’ a song about Cadillacs, and ‘Can’t Hold Us,’ Spotify’s #1 streamed song for 2013.

ZALORA to launch Marketplace!
The online fashion retailer to offer independent fashion designers and sellers access to their millions of customers.
ZALORA, Asia’s leading online fashion destination, has announced it will be launching ZALORA Marketplace in the first half of this year.
With over 15 million visits per month to ZALORA, Marketplace will give independent fashion designers and sellers the opportunity to instantly expand their business to ZALORA’s massive customer base and will greatly increase the product assortment available to customers.

What to Wear for a night out at the Casino
The casino has become a really popular choice for a night out, amongst those looking for a change from the usual pub and club options.
When it comes to what you should wear when you go to one, the situation varies depending on the different dress codes operated by casinos. This is a rough guide to the different casino dress choices and which types of casino night out they will be most suitable for.
If you are just having a fairly casual night out at a casino in your local area, then the chances are that smart casual attire will be the most suitable option. Most of these casinos will have more relaxed dress codes than the top ones in cities like London and Monte Carlo.
During the evening it will be best for men to wear a smart shirt and trousers and for women to wear something like a short cocktail dress.
On the other hand if you are part of a group attending a casino stag or hen night party, then fancy dress – for example a 1940s gangster suit and hat for men, or 1920s flapper clothes for women – will be a good way of making the evening special.
If you are travelling to a top casino in London or another European city for your stag or hen night however, this may not be so suitable. Here it would be better to dress in a way which is classy but understated. Opting for an evening suit for men or a full-length evening gown for women, will be a way to make the experience something a bit out of the ordinary. This is without running the risk of violating the stricter dress codes employed by the really expensive casinos. For women there is also the option of topping off this outfit with the use of either jewellery or furs, but again, it is best to go for understated examples of these – rather than anything too ostentatious or flashy.
As for me, I think it would be great to still dress comfortably but stylish and classy in your own ways. I would pick simple metallic or sequined dresses because you don’t need much for them to look elegant. You can wear them as it is and the dress would already speak for itself.

The Untamed Collection by Harmony Pilobello
Design for giving. This is always the aim of one of my favorite international fashion organizations, The Young Designers Collective. I have blogged about them before here and here. Now, I’m putting the spotlight into one of their amazing designers, Harmony Pilobello.
Harmony Pilobello is a specialist in hand weaving. She pursued a BFA in Fashion design at Parsons School of Design and while there was fortunate enough to meet Professor Timo Rissanen, who was able to guide Harmony through a junior and senior thesis focus in sustainability.
While studying under him, she was able to explore more about zero waste approaches in fashion design, including the Japanese Saori Handweaving technique.
Now, she is using her design background to make one-of-a-kind garments and accessories that involve sourcing materials from small mills like Ardalanish: Isle of Mull Weavers in Scotland or sourcing for dead stock within New York City.
She is aiming to have seasonal collections dedicated to also sourcing from nonprofit organizations that support women especially those who fall under the poverty line, like the Awamaki Organization in Peru.
She had already released her Autumn 2013 collection which consists of stylish garments for men which you can shop at The Young Designers website.

And now I’m so excited to share with you that this month, she is debuting the “Untamed” bridal and evening accessories collection.
The Untamed Collection is inspired by horses and hares roaming free in the wild. An elegant but affordable addition to any bride or bridal party outfit.
All pieces were specially handmade in YDC’s New York Studio and as always, a percentage of each purchase will be donated. This time it will go to the Defenders of Wildlife, an organization that is “dedicated to the protection of all native animals and plants in their natural communities.”
Founded in 1947, they protect and restore imperiled species throughout North America by transforming policies and institutions and promoting innovative solutions.

This would also be perfect down the aisle. It is beautifully hand braided with humanely sourced horse hair, resin pearls, glass beads, gold plated wire, and rhinestone chain with a 5ft satin bow in back.

- The “Woodland Hare”
This is a delicate and whimsical piece created from hand twisted gold plated wire, glass beads, and multifaceted crystals sourced locally.

These pieces are definitely stunning, I would love to have one just so I can add such beautifully made and exquisite pieces in my hair accessory collection. The Equine Crown was just so perfect and the Tressed Laurel and Woodland Hare were lovely that I think they are also perfect for different occasions.
I also love the fact that a big percentage of the proceeds will go to an amazing cause which is the Defenders of Wildlife fund. The YDC never really fails to amaze and impress me with what they do.
I hope you also get to appreciate them because not a lot of fashion designers does some things like what the YDC does.

Vania Romoff x Ensembles: Young Designer Series Holiday 2013
Now on its 5th year, Ensembles is back with another budding fashion designer for its Young Designer Series 2013.
Ensembles is all about the strong and independent woman with a style that’s fashion forward yet elegant. That’s why this year’s collaboration with Vania Romoff is a perfect match. With her designs being predominantly classic and feminine, Vania’s design aesthetic is definitely fit for an Ensembles woman.
I remembered the first time I featured Vania Romoff on my blog and how I was in awe of her designs. They are full of sophistication and class, perfect for women who are confident in who they are. You can read it again here.
About Vania Romoff
Vania Romoff is one of the leading designers of today’s generation which is why it’s no surprise she is this year’s chosen one for Ensembles’ Young Designers Series.
Born and raised in a family of designers and fashion-savvy individuals, the 24 year old Cebuana grew up around fashion. Vania studied Business Entrepreneurship at the Center for International Education in Cebu but learned and developed her fashion skills at School of Fashion of the Arts.
As for her design aesthetic, it’s all about being feminine and classic. “Clean lines, flattering silhouettes and a quiet, yet fresh elegance are consistent in my designs making each piece somehow a modern classic”, Vania said.
Her fashion forward yet timeless creations have garnered continuous praise from the eyes of fashion critics and the rest of the industry, making her one of the most sought after designers, especially with female clientele. Establishing herself as a legitimate designer in Manila is considered by Vania as one of her greatest achievements. “The thought that women trust me with creating pieces for them is an achievement in itself.”
When asked about where she gets inspiration for designing, Vania pointed out that there is no formula for inspiration. “It is taken from everywhere that evokes personal vision or creativeness”, Vania shared.
Among the list of people she admired, she named Inno Sotto and Jun Escario, both renowned Filipino designers, as her icons.
When asked about her collaboration with Ensembles, Vania pointed out that she considered two things. First, the pieces should be wearable and relatable and second, her designs should stay true to her design aesthetic while still reflecting the brand’s persona.
“For my collaboration with Ensembles, I wanted to just go back to the basic silhouettes. All together the collection is fresh yet timeless and lives beyond the season.”
More about the Collection
Her collection is a variety of tops, dresses and jumpsuits featuring easy to wear pieces and key classics that are both functional and chic at the same time. As for the silhouettes, it is a showcase of simplistic lines and basic shapes flattering to a woman’s curves which is one of the highlights of Vania’s design persona.
The collection is also a multitude of different trends and styles such as color blocking, prints and soft drapes presented in mostly subtle colors and neutrals, all capturing a woman’s grace, maturity and charm. A fresh take on vintage was the highlight of the campaign shoot for Vania’s collection, complete with a classic yet fun styling featuring shoes from Janilyn.
Described by Vania herself as a fresh yet timeless collection, her pieces will surely capture the attention of women of all sorts. Whether it is worn in the office, a smart casual affair or on a simple lovely day out, Vania’s pieces will definitely bring out any woman’s confidence and highlight their beauty.
