I know all of you my wonderful readers are now in full energy for summer, it’s our favorite season and I know summer is best spent in none other than our very own country, Philippines! Well, guess what? My blog is very much excited to share to you where to (and where not to, maybe) go and head this Summer 2013 and the coming summer seasons, too!

I know you don’t want to waste your hard-earned money and amazing summer clothes on false advertising and the like, so I’m so glad to be of help in recommending to you places you can visit this Summer and everything that you can expect from them tried and tested first-hand by yours truly.

Subic is one of the places people ought to go during Summer, not only is it near from the Metro but also it is the home to great beaches and amazing sceneries. I personally recommend this location for summer especially for the time savvy because for around 2 and a half hours from Manila (via commute) you can already arrive here (lesser time if you’ll drive your own car).

So where to go to when you’re in Subic? I have already tried beaches along the Subic Bay particularly Waterfront road and based on my experience, they were good but not that private so I don’t get to enjoy much since you share the beach with the whole line of hotels there so I’m so glad to have known this great beach and resort which is just a short drive from Subic Bay.

Let me introduce to you, Camayan Beach Resort.

And let me tell you now that it is by far the best experience Subic has given me.

Camayan is a lovely resort that houses the great beach and forestries of Subic. I personally think it has everything life can offer for your Summer needs. Not to mention that just beside it is the Ocean Adventure where you can spend the day and appreciate more the Ocean and its creatures with the shows and activities they have in store for you. I’m glad to have experienced everything they both has to offer so I can share it to you.

We checked-in at Camayan Beach Resort at around 2pm after our visit at Ocean Adventure, check-in was prompt even though there are a lot of guests to tend to.

Upon entering the resort, I was just in awe of how magical it was. Yes, it was a paradise! With its beautiful garden and surroundings, clear waters and nice sand, you won’t even second guess.

Oh, I immediately knew that it was going to be one of my best summer experiences ever!

The moment I saw the beach and the people having the greatest time of their Summer, I just wanted to immediately hop on my swimsuit and just soak in the sun staring at the lovely view.

But first, let me take you to our room. We had a deluxe room and upon entering it I immediately thought that it was bigger than other deluxe rooms I’ve had before considering that for most resorts I’ve stayed before, they don’t prioritized the ambiance on their rooms much but Camayan’s room was a pleasant surprise for me because I was actually expecting less for a beach resort room.

Deluxe rooms have 2 queen sized beds which are very comfortable. The lighting on the room is good and very calm, just right for a very relaxing atmosphere. The ceiling is also high with an added ceiling fan to complete its look and feel.

The room has a satellite tv, it has no cable but I don’t think you will be staying here to watch tv so it’ll be fine.

Complete with mini-bar with snacks and drinks that are not overpriced, huge closet with hangers and an umbrella inside. There’s also a wide space where you can put your extra things.

The bathroom has complete toiletries you’ll be needing during your stay and the best part is that it has a bath tub! Exactly what I’m always looking for. Shower and faucet also has both hot and cold water that works very well.

And outside our room, is our very own veranda overlooking the amazing beauty of Camayan.

This room is already good for 4 persons so it’s really worth it. Camayan also has other type of rooms, the Superior rooms, Executive and Captains Suites. The suites has a separate bedroom with luxurious king-size bed, walk-in closet, bathroom with Jacuzzi tub, spacious living room, and kitchenette and also a balcony with the most amazing view of the ocean and gardens!

My only concern is that the air conditioned can’t keep the room cold that much maybe because of the summer heat but glad there’s an additional ceiling fan! Also, the water in the shower is not that strong maybe because the time I used it there’s also a lot of people taking baths. But the overall quality and comfort of the room is one of the best I had! I can enjoy summer at Camayan just by simply staying at the veranda.

So, the rooms are already perfect for a wonderful stay for your Summer vacation but wait until you read what resort activities Camayan can offer you.

Well, you can try out their Massage services, horseback riding, bike in the forest, kayak in the ocean, snorkeling, diving, beach volleyball and Bay Cruise to name a few. And as I’ve mentioned, Ocean Adventure is just beside the resort so you can visit anytime, especially that they offer 20% discount to all Camayan guests. You only have to pay one time with the discount then you can visit ocean Adventure anytime while you’re checked-in at Camayan. Now, tell me if your summer won’t be complete after!

This is the best me-time ever! Because my boyfriend is busy enjoying our room (haha!). I love Camayan’s beach, the water is so clear plus the sand is so soft I can sit in it everyday. And guess what? There’s wifi everywhere at Camayan, I’m actually instagramming on the beach!

They are The Young Designers Collective. An association of artists and designers based in New York City, who design for non-profit organizations to promote good will as well as gain exposure individually and for the cause they are working towards.

They are Shilpa Iyengar, Hanh Lam and Harmony Pilobello. YDC is sponsored by SI Design and Consulting Inc and they provide young designers a platform that can help them be recognized in their craft. We all know how hard it is to show the world your talent and be known in what you do so YDC aims to help us achieve success by means of working together.

So for those of you who have great talents out there, I’m so glad to share this amazing association to you.

This group is great since they are very hands-on, they allow a free exchange of ideas and talents that’s why every one can learn from each other

By “doing well by doing good” they connect their designers to non-profit organizations in order to create a favorable outcome for both parties. Both benefit from the high quality products designed to produce revenue for the organization and promote the designer’s name into a new or national market. With philanthropy and fashion hand in hand, they hope to further charitable works as well as bring new talent to light sooner than ever before.

While pursuing a BFA in Fashion Design, Harmony Pilobello was fortunate enough to meet Professor Timo Rissanen who was equipped with the skills to guide her through a junior and senior thesis focus in sustainability.

Eventually, she would like to have seasonal collections dedicated to also sourcing from non-profit organizations that support women who fall under the poverty line, like the Awamaki Organization in Peru. She also hopes to pursue a PHD in fiber science and social enterprise.

The Natural Selection Scarf by Harmony Pilobello. Model: Clement Von Holstein

The Cycles Hat by Shilpa Iyengar: The woolen Cycles hat is inspired by the “Cycles” dress and also portrays how life and death act as cycles seen manifested in different ways throughout life. The fabric moves around the head in a circular motion, linking the beginning and end.

The Scarabs Blouse by Shilpa Iyengar: This blouse is made of hand printed burnout silk rayon. The print, also named Scarabs, represents the scarab beetle amulet, which was left with the dead in ancient Egypt to protect the body from being destroyed by insects so that the soul could return even after death. Today, this symbol represents the cyclical nature of life and death. “Scarabs” is also cut to form the silhouette of a sitting royal when laid flat, bringing Egyptian profile art to life.

The Bustle Skirt by Shilpa Iyengar: The “Bustle” skirt draws from the Victorian bustle and gives it a modern twist. Victorians were fascinated by Egyptian burial rituals and were accustomed to death themselves as the industrial revolution caused crowded and unsanitary cities. This Egyptian aspect is tied in with the Hieroglyphs print, which is drawn from illustrations in the Book of the Dead. The skirt is made from silk wool covered with a hand printed and painted chiffon.

The Field of Reeds Dress by Shilpa Iyengar: The “Field of Reeds” gown is named after the ancient Egyptian phrase for heaven. The gown is made from hand-made burnout velvet, with the print depicting Egyptian illustrations of the Field of Reeds. To further the concept of transforming Egyptian profile illustrations into a three-dimensional form, the gown also resembles a standing figure when laid flat, truly making an ancient art wearable.

The Beginnings and Ends Dress by Shilpa Iyengar: The “Beginnings and Ends” dress is made of lace covered in chiffon and a handmade silk burnout in back. The print represents the Field of Reeds, the place at the end of the journey into the afterlife, according to the Book of the Dead. There, the dead live as they did on Earth and start a new life, just as a bride and groom begin a new life together when they marry

One of the trends that you would be seeing everywhere this coming season is Camouflage. I personally love this pattern because it’s diverse and complicatedly beautiful. I’ve been seeing this pattern lately on runways, on the streets, magazines, etc. and I want to share a piece of mine to my readers through this outfit post.

So, how camo can you go?

I chose to wear this camo skirt because I find it very unique rather than jackets or jeans with the camouflage print which are everywhere now. I’ve been in love with thrift stores ever since and this is one of my best finds! What do you think?

This skirt is actually cotton (which makes it very comfortable) so I paired it with a denim top for added texture. I’m so in love with this chambray denim polo from Next jeans, love the color and the little details that made it very stylish!

Kept my accessories simple without all the colors I usually wear to not overrate my outfit because I think the skirt says it all.

Oh and did you notice the little spikes on the collar of my top? I love how they gave edginess to my outfit! I also think it matched my spikes necklace perfectly. Whoever shop sent me the necklace, message me so I can credit you.

Comfort is one of the key things I always consider when choosing what to wear and I think it defines my style, I don’t like risking things for the sake of Fashion. What matters the most is that I feel good and these Crocs flats always give me that.

Camouflage may be one of the in trends this season but that doesn’t mean you would force yourself to wear it, always stay true to your own style or else I don’t think it would work for you. Besides, Fashion is all about expressing yourself.

Like what one of my favorite designer and fashion inspiration, Gianni Versace once said, “Don’t be into trends. Don’t make fashion own you, but you decide what you are, what you want to express by the way you dress and the way you live.”

Never let your clothes wear you, it’s the other way around. There are never limits in dressing up as long as it’s You.

So enjoy the new season and wear what you want! Always remember to feel good and you’ll definitely look good!

UNIQLO recently announced its newest promotional activity via popular social networking site Facebook. I’m glad to have been one of those who are invited to hear this amazing news first-hand. This time, UNIQLO is giving away exciting prizes by simply playing their newest Facebook Game Application. Facebook likers can win an Iphone5, DSLR Camera, Summer Getaway for 2, Phone Tablet, and lots of UNIQLO giveaways!

UNIQLO’s “U Shop, U Win” virtual shopping promo is a Facebook-based game application that allows participants to “virtually” purchase items to collect shopping points that they can use to buy items from UNIQLO’s Spring/Summer collection found at the UNIQLO Spring/Summer page within the UNIQLO Web page.

Participants can then browse through the application’s links to be able to collect more points or “money” to be used for virtual shopping. Upon check-out, participants will be asked to “pay” for their purchase via the cashiers with designated prizes. Participants will win the minor prize depending on the cashier he/she chooses. At the end of the promo period, lucky participants who played the game, logged in and played more will have more chances of winning major prizes.

This Facebook promo is part UNIQLO’s efforts to promote the opening of its newest and two-storey store at SM Aura in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, and to introduce its newest brand approach called “LifeWear,” which puts the customer at the epicenter of UNIQLO’s perspective.

The “LifeWear” mission seeks the enrichment of its customers’ lives through quality clothing with a universal appeal, offering them comfortably-fitting clothes regardless of their age yet attractively priced and does not conform to popular trends to enable the customer to create his or her own style.

“Just like the opening of our two stores last year, we cannot hide our excitement because this is our first major activity for the year, which seeks to excite Filipinos as we open again another store, our first for the year. As promised, UNIQLO will definitely bring more fun and excitement to the Filipino shopper,” declares Katsumi Kubota, Chief Operating Officer, Fast Retailing Philippines, Inc.
