Lee Style Armies conquer the stage at Philippine Fashion Week
A fashion battlefield is set to take place on October 26 at Philippine Fashion Week as 35 hopefuls get drafted into the Lee Style Armies student design competition.
The annual fashion extravaganza captures student fashionistas in their element as they interpret Lee’s Free Your Night Side campaign with Night Skins by Lee.
Rise of the fashion-savvy recruits
This 2012, five troops namely Club Rats, Black Cats, Wild Ones, Blackout, and Dark Knight will be marching down their designs on the runway.
Students from the Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle-College of St. Benilde, University of San Carlos, University of Santo Tomas, University of the Philippines, Centro Escolar University, Far Eastern University, Mapua Institute of Technology, and School of Fashion and Arts make up the frontline in the battle for artistic recognition and design supremacy.
For the third year in a row, students are once again called upon to get their fashion arsenal ready as they go head to head in the fields of fashion design, styling, multimedia design, modeling, and photography in the Free Your Night Side student design competition.
As a vehicle for designers in the making to utilize their talents and explore their artistic capabilities, participants are made to go on a three-week design bootcamp prior to taking front and center on Philippine Fashion Week.
Finalists will be undergoing training with the best of the best in the fashion industry, an experience of a lifetime for these budding style mavens.
Combative cool style
Night Skins by Lee is the brand’s latest collection, a seven-piece collection featuring the sexiest of skinny jeans coated in metallic leather.

Bridal Shoes for Wedding
Choosing wedding shoes can be just as overwhelming as other aspects of the wedding planning process. Not sure what type of shoes to wear on your wedding day? Then it pays to think about the features you want before looking. Also, consider whether you will wear one pair at the ceremony (for effect) and another at the reception (for comfort) or one pair throughout the day. Here is an overview of Bridal Shoes for Wedding and the different features and options available:
Like other shoes, you can choose from a variety of styles. Designers offer pumps, sling-backs, all heel heights, platforms, open-toes, closed-toes, sandals and other strappy designs. Chances are you can find your favorite style in a wedding shoe.
Heel heights range from flats to six or seven inch spike heels. Considerations when deciding what height shoes to wear include whether your wedding is outside or inside, how comfortable you are wearing high heels, how tall you want to appear relative to the groom during the ceremony, and if you are going to change shoes at the reception.
Flats. Outdoor weddings lend themselves to flat shoes because it is easier to walk flat-footed across sand or soft soil. As outdoor and destination weddings have become more popular, shoe companies are making a wider variety of flat bridal shoes. Flip-flops, thongs, ballerina shoes, and even open-backed slippers are all available.
Tennis Shoes. We have all seen video of barefoot brides kicking it up at the reception. If you’d prefer comfortable — but not bare — feet, there are options. One is the bridal tennis shoe. You can purchase a pair from one of a few online vendors, or make your own by gluing lace, crystals, or pearls to a white pair of sneakers. The above-mentioned flats are another option for dancing.
Low Heels. If you are wobbly in high heels but feel uncomfortable wearing flats, a low or wedge heel may be just right for you. You can find a selection of 1/2” to 1 3/4” heels in several styles.
Mid Heels. Mid-rise sandals and pumps with heel heights around 2” - 2 3/4” provide a bit more height than the lower heels. Mid heels are, in general, skinnier than their lower counterparts.
High Heels. Your options are numerous if you have the skill to walk in 3”+ heels. Many fashionable, higher heel styles are out there. If you need practice walking in high heels, we suggest buying your shoes several weeks before the wedding and wear them until you can walk up and down steps, spin, squat, and otherwise walk around for several hours in comfort. We also recommend a back-up pair of lower shoes for the reception.
Platform wedding shoes. If you like to shake things up a bit — or want to add several inches to your height — these chunky high heels may be for you. Platform heels tend to be 3” or more, plus added lift from the platform. They can be harder to find than other bridal shoes, so you may want to order from an online specialty store. Search the Web for platform wedding shoes and you will find several options.
White and ivory are traditionally the most popular colors for wedding shoes. There are options for the non-traditional bride as well. Bridal shoes are available in black, silver, gold, and even pink.
Dyeable Shoes. There are several brands of dyeable wedding shoes commonly available (Coloriffics, Dyeables, Colorful Creations, Nina Dyeables, and Touch Ups are some brands you will find). These white satin shoes can be worn as-is or dyed to match your gown. Experts recommend having an experienced shoe dyer color your shoes. While you can purchase dye and try it yourself, realize that the process can be more art than science. You could end up with a blotchy pair of shoes or a wrong color.

Being the girl that wear glasses ever since 5th grade, I’m so glad to personally share this post to you. I’ve been wearing glasses for almost a decade now and I tell you, it gets harder and harder to choose what pair to get every time I do so.
I don’t know why I didn’t get used to wearing contact lenses, I’ve tried before but I immediately went back to wearing glasses maybe because I feel better in them and I just feel incomplete without my trusted pair.

Especially when I go to events, since I wear glasses it becomes twice as hard for me to do my best not to hide my face.I would really love to keep this image, in that case I must choose frames that would highlight my look rather than hide it.

Icons and legends of the past, present and future: this is the key message of Ray-Ban Legends. Shot by photographer Mark Seliger in California, the campaign frames seven legendary moments (one per decade), each inspired by a real life and particularly iconoclastic figure. Every character wears a Ray-Ban Icon. Each image evokes a specific story and is epitomized by the chromatic tones that are faithful to the relevant decade (black and white, sepia and, naturally, colour).
“My first pair of sunglasses were Ray-Bans. I used to borrow my older brother’s gold-rimmed aviators with the green lenses, not always with his permission, and I suddenly became the coolest 13 year-old in Texas. So when they approached me to shoot the 75th anniversary campaign, it seemed like the ultimate creative dream, especially since I had lived through a couple of those decades” says Mark Seliger.
“It was one of those opportunities that doesn’t come around too often, and I really enjoyed being a part of the creative team. Our Creative Director Erik Vervroegen proposed scenarios that were photographic, iconic, controversial and fun, and it seemed like the perfect fit for what I do and what the Ray-Ban brand represents” continues Mark Seliger.
The result is an extraordinary gallery of powerful images that span an era, while capturing specific moments in time. In keeping with the Never Hide spirit, the seven figures unconsciously broke through barriers; their eyes were open while the world’s were closed.

Rajo Laurel for Parisian and Milanos
World-class designer Rajo Laurel collaborates with SM homegrown footwear brands Parisian and Milanos to bring 2 exclusive collections that derives inspiration from the Japanese culture. I attended the press launch which was held at the SMX Convention Center last September 25, and I was so honored to see the collection before it hits the market.
Rajo! for Parisian features adventurously stylish wedges, boots, flats, and heels for women while the premier Rajo! for Milanos collection introduces dapper casual and dress shoes for men.
Rajo turns to his recent travel to Japan to produce his exclusive shoe collections for local retail leader SM.
“As a designer, the Japanese culture has always been a point of reference for me,” Rajo Laurel explained. “I am in love with the graphic qualities of their traditional garb, the intricate art of the obi, the deep romanticism associated with the kimono and of course the zen balance of the modern Japanese aesthetic.”
Aside from the stylish pieces, the launch event also reflected the best and most beautiful aspects of the Japanese culture. It became a visual feast for fashion lovers and art enthusiasts alike, the guests themselves having been invited to dress in their best oriental inspired ensembles.
The designs feature bold colors and patterns, as well as sleek lines and curves made of satin, suede, and leather. For the fun loving girl looking for the perfect pair for a night out with her friends, Rajo! for Parisian’s line of heels and wedges would be the perfect way to go. For the laid back and casual fashionista, the collection also has metallic flats and suede shoes.
For the confident guy on the go, Rajo! for Milanos’ collection showcases casual and dress shoes made of leather and suede with metallic accents and embroidery.
“Women tend to favor trends when it comes to footwear, whereas men tend to go for a classic look with an emphasis on quality.” Laurel explained. “These were some of the things I took into consideration in designing the lines for both Parisian and Milanos. From a global perspective, more and more options are being available. I feel like I managed to toe the line between tempering the classic shapes with just the right amount of edge.”
“I feel very blessed to have been given the freedom to explore all of my ideas and bring literally a fantasy to life,” Laurel said. “The heart of the collaboration was really in the manufacturing, I wouldn’t have been able to do this without the expertise of the Parisian/Milanos group.”
The collections were featured on the runway in a memorable show featuring male models dressed as neo-samurais and female models dressed as modern geishas. The shoes were displayed as works of art amidst a bright and colorful backdrop reminiscent of the Harajuku District in Japan.

Do you remember my blog post about the New Crocs New You event where Crocs Philippines showcased their latest collection providing style and comfort? Laureen Uy also shared some styling tips during the event where the winner of the NCNY contest was also announced, you can read it again here.
And following the success of Crocs’ NCNY regional campaign last summer, which generated nearly a thousand local contest entries, this Fall, New Crocs New You is back with a bigger take on fashion in its second chapter.

I attended the Fashion Show were student models walked the runway showcasing Cotton On’s latest clothes that will be available at the store. Read about it here. I attended the Wrangler Roadshow 2012 last week where their Fall Winter Collection 2012 was showcased, I’ll be blogging about the event later. It was really so much fun and the whole set was really make-believe and just inspiring.
First, let me tell you more about Wrangler and it’s new collection, The Boundless Traveler.
Wrangler is one of the biggest denim brands with hundred years of denim heritage. Founded in 1904, Wrangler was originally named Blue Bell, and rooted as a work wear company specializing in Overalls. In 1947, the name Wrangler was born, which means “working cowboy”. Since then, Wrangler has delivered denim innovation and authentic craftsmanship, and stayed true to its devotion to denim history.
